How this calculator works
Required putty = net area ÷ two-coat coverage × coats ÷ 2 × wastage factor. Bags needed = round up (required kg ÷ bag kg). Estimated purchase cost = bags × your bag price.
Worked example
For a two-coat 1,000 sq ft area at 12 sq ft/kg and 10% wastage, about 91.7 kg is needed. Five 20 kg bags supply 100 kg, leaving approximately 8.3 kg unused. At an illustrative ₹850 each, bag purchase cost is ₹4,250.

Frequently asked questions
Is wastage added before calculating the number of bags?
Yes. The tool calculates kilograms for the selected coats, adds the wastage percentage and only then rounds up to complete bags.
Why does the calculator show unused putty?
Whole bags may contain more material than the estimated requirement. The unused quantity is purchased kilograms minus estimated consumed kilograms.
Can I combine 20 kg and 40 kg bags?
This tool estimates using one pack size at a time. For mixed purchases, compare separate calculations and choose a practical combination.
Does it subtract bags that I already own?
No. The displayed figure is the total estimated bags needed. Subtract usable inventory yourself after checking remaining shelf life and storage condition.
Is labour part of the bag purchase cost?
No. The bags calculator shows product purchases only. Use the main cost calculator to estimate materials and labour together.
Can I use 40 kg or 25 kg bags?
Yes. Enter any positive bag weight that your supplier sells.
Why does the result round up?
You normally buy complete bags rather than exactly the kilograms required.
Are bag prices live?
