PuttyCostCalc.com aims to make its wall putty calculators and educational pages usable by a wide range of visitors, including people who use assistive technologies, small screens or keyboard navigation. This statement explains our approach, known limitations and how to request help. Last reviewed: 22 October 2026.
Our accessibility approach
Calculator results should be understandable without relying only on colour or graphics. The design uses labelled input fields, clear headings, visible numerical outputs, and text explanations of assumptions. We aim to provide a consistent page structure across the Cost, Quantity, Coverage, Bags, Labour and Room calculators.
The navigation is designed to respond to different screen sizes. Calculator inputs and results are arranged vertically on narrow displays, and results appear after the fields to support a logical reading order.
Features that may support accessibility
- Keyboard-operable links, menus and form buttons where the underlying browser and WordPress theme support them.
- Labels associated with input fields and textual information about selected units.
- Readable output text for net area, required kilograms, whole-bag counts and estimated costs.
- Clear error messages when an input is outside the supported range.
- Responsive layouts that can be used on mobile devices and enlarged screens.
- Contact information for reporting barriers or requesting a more accessible explanation.
Standards and testing
We use accessibility good practices as a reference and aim to improve the site toward recognised web accessibility principles, including perceivable content, keyboard operation and understandable form controls. However, this statement is not a formal certification of conformity with any particular WCAG level.
Automated checks can identify some problems, but they do not prove that all features work perfectly for every assistive technology, browser or device. Manual testing and user feedback are important, especially for dropdown menus, dynamic calculator updates and focus management.
Known limitations
The website depends on JavaScript for live calculator results, so a browser with JavaScript disabled may display the input form without a working calculated response. Third-party manufacturer pages and linked PDF documents are outside our control and may have their own accessibility issues.
Some technical symbols, measurement abbreviations or product terms may also require explanation. We try to provide the meaning of those values in surrounding page content and our Calculation Methodology.
Help using a calculator
If you find an input difficult to use, try navigating to the field with the Tab key, checking the stated measurement unit and using the ‘Try an Example’ button to understand the intended format. The ‘Reset’ button clears current inputs and outputs so you can begin a new calculation.
For a keyboard, screen reader or mobile accessibility problem, tell us the page URL, device or browser, what you tried and what happened. You do not have to disclose a disability or private medical information to report an issue.
How to request assistance or report a barrier
Email contact@puttycostcalc.com with the subject Accessibility Feedback. We welcome details about unreadable text, insufficient contrast, a button that cannot be reached, incorrectly announced errors, or information that is missing from the accessible reading order.
Where practical, we will use reports to prioritise fixes or provide the relevant formula or instructions in a simpler text format. We cannot guarantee a particular response time or compatibility with every combination of software and hardware.
Ongoing improvements
We may revise page templates, navigation, labels, error messages and explanations when issues are identified. Our Corrections Policy also covers important website errors.
